Memories!

Hi Paper Peeps!

What a beautiful day we're having here in Houston! Did we think we were heading into winter, suddenly it feels almost like summer again. You can never really store any of your summer clothes away, because you might have a day like today and need them again, just layer a bit in the morning and at night and you're good.

I'm bringing you a layout I made with the gorgeous Riddersholm Design papers Chrsitmas Cosy.

I decided to do a lot of layers and distressing. The colors are so nice and subdued. Perfectly matched.

On it a beautiful chipboard piece from Creative Embellishments. I first put 2 coats of gesso on the chipboard, let it dry. Looked trough my stash to find a stamp with writing and randomly stamp it. For a little bit extra I inked the edges with a brown Tim Holtz Distress Ink. It just blends so nicely with the theme of the page this way.

I didn't want to distract too much from the papers and chipboard so choose to use onle a few flowers and other embellishments.

Art Journal Cover!

Hello Paper Fans!

This is my fourth post on the wonderful Flying Unicorn December Your Passion Your Art Kit.

The Cute Art Journal was part of the mixed art kit and the spine color matched perfectly with some of the pages in the kit. Instead of covering it totally I wanted to keep it like it was. I layered some scraps of papers, Used a 13@arts Stencil with Gesso for some detail.

In the Small Art Big Passion Kit we had a Julie Nutting Wooden Doll. Instead of using colors or paint or paper to give her color I decided to use the Petaloo Trim from the Main kit to dress her. Her hair was done with two colors liquid pearl.

Time to start decorating the rest of the cover with my favorite items. Of course.... flowers. Some chippies, some bling, a little splashing and voila!

Riddersholm Barn Market Cards

Hi Paper peeps!

This Flying Unicorn - Your Passion. Your Art Kit. is the kit that keeps on giving. So gorgeous. So many possibilities. For my next project I made 2 cards.

I took one of the sheets of paper and cut out 2 - 5-1/2"x 8-1/2" pieces for the card base. I kept the left over part to cut in pieces for the second card to layer a couple. The blue piece is from the 6x6 pack that came in the Small Arts kit.

I inked the music bar chippy with black ink and coated it with a gloss. Cut it in three parts. so I could divide it over both cards. Distressed most pieces of paper and inked them. Now it's time to start layering. A shout out to my teacher and fellow CT member Michelle Frisby for showing me how to get started with these kinds of cards a while ago.

After the paper placement it's time for all the fun parts. Flowers, raffia, cheesocloth, It is what brings it all together. The final touches with a little splatter of gold and white splash and we have 2 cards ready to make some people happy.

Special!

G'day Peeps!

Ha, an original Australian hello, I guesss I can do that, since I have an Australian passport although my roots are Dutch. Was born and raised there until we left there in 1998. Been back a couple of times but this last time was after a long gap of 7 years. It was great to visit.

No Visit to the Netherlands is complete without a picture of a Dutch Windmill and typically the weather was dreary. Perfect.

The total package to use on the wonderful Papers and flowers this month with the Flying Unicorn - Your Passion. Your Art Kits.

I mixed black 13@rts gesso with the Prima-Rust Mica Powder to give the gesso a little glitter, it did not have enough of the desired effect, so I sprinkled some over the wet gesso. That went a little wrong, hihi, and I tipped half the tub over the page. Funnily enough, it actually turned out quite nicely. After the rust gesso I did another run with plain black gesso with a different stencil. It creates a fun look.

In my stash I found a feather from the Prima-Timeless Memories chipboard pack. It totally matched the color scheme.

Hello paper friends!

I'm just loving this Flying Unicorn kit, the papers, Riddersholm, the quality, the colors, oh wow, they're just amazing and then the perfect flower add-ons with it. I'm still scrapping pics from my trip to the Netherlands and I'm having a ball with it.

I kept the layout in simple lines with some distressing. It just fits in with the whole look of the paper.

The Mixed Art Kit - Your passion. Your Art, came with some nice cards I used for layering, some extra cardboard to make them more pronounced.

In the Small Art Big Passion Kit - Your Passion. Your Art. there is this awesome die I used it to give an accent around the edges. Cut it in half and stuck half of a Flying Unicorn Metal Ornament on there. It's all in the little details right.

Of course now it's time for the fun part, the flowers and this kit just came with such a beautiful combination, I didn't even need to go through my own stash. So glad I ordered them double.

Just another shot to show the layering. All that's left is some finishing touches with a splash here and a splash there and a little gesso details.

Flying Unicorn December Kit OTP - Mailbox!

Hello Paper and OTP fans.

It is truly the time of the year to go all out on Christmas decorations and when I opened the December kit from Flying Unicorn, I just had to get started on the OTP right away. I had no idea what the Creative Team had done yet with their mailboxes so it was a blank slate. The best way to have really. Extra jitters since now I'm having to do really good, starting January, I'll be part of that amazing team and I better do awesome!

Right from the start I covered it with gesso (13 @rts) to create a base. When that was dry I used to red acrylic paints to create the look of the background.

I wanted to create a kind of scenery creatively, without actually painting trees and such, so I used a sponge and dipped it in both Matte White and Metallic Turquoise 13@rts paint to sponge on the mailbox to give the look of foliage. For snow, I just used the Matte White and sponged that around the bottom.

Over the snow part I used a stencil from 13@rts with the holly on there. I mixed some Modelling Paste with the Metallic Turquoise 13@rts paints to create the right color. For the sky I used just white Modelling paste and the other new 13@rts stencil with snow flakes to ad a little flurry there.

Now it was time to spruce up the box with all kinds of other goodies. I just love how the colors just blend so nicely together. The flowers used are by Prima, Petaloo & Michaels . Ribbons, Lace by Prima & Michaels.

All the 13@rts, Prima & Petaloo products are available at my favorite store! Flying Unicorn!

This was such a fun project to do. Now back to the rest of the kit and what a gorgeous kit it is!
